Living with Technology

Twenty years ago, the world as we know has changed significantly. Currently, we have moved from a world that was bound by wires and copper cabling to a world that offers any small portion of information we want with the touch of a glass screen from a device that fits in our pockets which they called cellular phones (cp). In today’s time a consumer can shop from the comfort of their home, and find exactly the right product at exactly the right price. This type of convenience has changed our daily habits in many ways; both positive and negative may observe by further advanced development of technology. While some may say this is good thing that allowing distant relatives and friends quick and simple communication without worrying about distance, others would say that email and texting simply takes a lot of           the personal touch from the conversation.

“Technology stills an important portion of the human condition. Technologies feed, clothe, and provide shelter for us; they transport, entertain, and heal us; they provide the foundation of wealth and of leisure; they also pollute and kill. For good or ill, they are do too quickly inseparably into the fabric of our lives, from birth to death, at home, in school, in paid work. Rich or poor, employed or non-employed, woman or man, ‘black’ or ‘white’, north or south - all of our lives are entwined with technologies, from simple tools to large technical systems”.

As technology evolves, so do the cries against its impact on our personal lives to some, more application means more time used up staring at a smart phone, tablet, laptop and less time spent with loved ones. While times certainly changing thanks to the new technology in our lives, technology isn’t hurting us, but actually helping us to find more sense of balance. Life is short, and many of the technological advances that turn over out on a daily basis are hoping to help us and get more out of it. Rather than looking at technology as the downfall of humankind, we should consider it a way to improve our lives and help us to make more time to spend with people we love the most. And the growth of technology helped to further our productivity and time spent with our loved ones.

It's not so difficult to recognize much of the technology we use on a daily basis: computers, cell phones, microwave ovens, refrigerators, convection ovens that cook food evenly and many more. But do we really know exactly how our everyday life, technology is working for us? And what about the covertness technologies we're readily using without even realizing                                                                                               it?

Clearly, we have seen that computer technology role have involved in our daily day life. The biggest proof is present at our surroundings. Just having a look around and we can seen the prove contribution of computers in our everyday lives. Shopping, banking, travelling, stocking, literature entertainment, public and private sector, almost everywhere computers are playing their roles efficiently. Computers can be chosen as one of the most creative innovations of human beings. In coming days computers are even going to be more continual, because technology is getting advanced day by day.

All of these are quite a few type of the technology present today, there are countless of them. Everywhere we go technology was being used. We should begin looking at the positive impacts that this new technology has on our daily lives. Technology is evolving very quickly, and sometimes consumers have a hard time keeping up with the latest trends, but the impacts are made every day mainly to help improve our lives.

Technology in Goat Semen Preservation

Goat production has importance in agriculture economy worldwide. Breeding programs have been developed for the genetic improvement of goats. One of these programs is the development of artificial insemination to develop high quality genetic of sires. Three methods of semen preservation (fresh, refrigerated and frozen) and three techniques of insemination (vaginal, cervical and intrauterine) are used worldwide in goats. The success of artificial insemination will depend on the management of semen collection, storage and use.

Artificial Insemination (AI) may be regarded as a first generation Advanced Assisted Reproduction Technologies (ART) and it is the one that has made the greatest contribution to genetic improvement programs, mainly due to well-established methods for identifying males with the highest genetic merit.

One of the technologies developed in optimizing the viability of animals semen was through refrigeration. Refrigeration allows the storage of semen for a long period of time. The use of fresh or refrigerated semen was recommended when semen was stored for short periods of time or when it is used in small areas. Also, the use of liquid semen stored between 0-5ÂșC allows the effective viability of semen for a longer period of time compared to fresh semen.

Aside from chilling the buck semen another way of preserving it was through cryopreservation. Cryopreservation is a way of preserving germplasm that has applications in many areas of science. The cryopreservation of mammalian sperm is a complex process that is influenced by several factors that are inter-related. Therefore, for the development of a protocol for sperm freezing, all the factors should be considered. Furthermore, there are important differences between species with regard to the freezing procedure. These differences result from some factors such as the physiology and biochemistry of the spermatozoa themselves.

Thus, a protocol optimized for freezing of sperm of one species may not be appropriate for the sperm of a different species. For these reasons, the specific requirements of each particular species should be taken into account when trying to develop freezing protocols which are some of the challenges today in order to preserve the semen of different animals specifically those animals categorized as extinct. If specific protocol will be developed for the different animal species it can be stored in gene bank that can be useful for future purposes and maintaining the genetic diversity of the animals.

Snail Mail Advantage

All through history people have communicated with each other in different ways. For instance, some used birds to transport their messages while others used smoke of fire to signal their friend who were far from them. Lately postal mail was used as a mean for communication, which was referred to as “snail mail”. Before telephones the only way to communicate with each other was to write letters. It took days before the letter got to the receiver and it took days for the writer to get the reply. Then telephones were invented and conversations became instantaneous. Most people loved the telephone and its convenience but some enjoyed and missed writing letters. And with the invention of telegraph and improvement of civilization a new tool came in known as e-mail.

Many of us turning on computer and checking for mail messages has become part of our everyday life. The increasing fame of e-mail makes us fully dependent on it. We can simply become aware of the advantages of e-mail over snail mail, which includes speed, low cost, and convenience. However, we would be foolish to abandon the post office or regular mail already. For some purposes, e-mail does not really satisfy our needs so we cannot say that it is enough as replacement of snail mail.

There are lot of things we should remember particularly the advantages of using “snail mail” in terms of privacy, security, reliability and some of these are undermentioned in some resources. “It's a federal crime to steal or open other people's snail mail, while email has no such law governing it. Some email systems, like those used in most workplaces, are very safe, but there is still nothing stopping the site administrator from viewing your messages. Snail mail was protected by federal law, but email accounts and messages can be easily intercepted, read and abused. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security notes that email logins, passwords and even messages sent in plain text are the most at threat. It advises choosing an email program that has a "secure mode" to help protect your information. Mail carriers still have the responsibility of delivering the mail during the worst conditions, which is not the case with email. If your computer crashes, your email server is locked or not working or you have a power outage, your email access can be down (for a short time or indefinitely). If your email service abruptly terminates, you will lose all files and messages unless you have saved them elsewhere on your computer. Snail mail gives you the hard copies of any important documents, letters or other items you wish to save.”

And another advantage of snail mail was the size, shape, color and texture of snail mail items are limitless, as long as they properly fit in an envelope or box that can be shipped through the postal service. Some email programs will only accept text files, while others have severe size limitations on attachments, including photos, video and other multimedia files. Email is also easily prone to a bunch of junk mail, or spam. And lastly our penmanship can be developed using snail mail including our knowledge of writing, grammar and expressing our emotion.

Upon knowing some of these things, using e-mail will never stop since it was and will be part of our life. But still we have reasons to not disregard “snail mail” as another way of communication here in our modern world because just like e-mail it also have advantages.
